Chapel Highlights

 

Chapel on 25th February was a special piano concert by Guest Artiste, Mr Jimmy McKissic.
Jimmy is a Christian Afro-American pianist who hails from Arkansas, USA. He has travelled widely and has performed at Carnegie Hall, New York, as well as in Geneva, Paris, Abu Dhabi, Damascus, Bangkok and other cities. Currently he performs every evening at the Lobby of Raffles Hotel where he has been entertaining diners and other guests for more than a year. He presented a programme of Christian and Classical music on the piano entitled, “ My Spiritual Musical Journey”.

Weekly Highlights

Next Week’s Chapel speaker (4th Mar) is Rev Dr Daniel Chua, Senior Pastor of Mount Carmel Bible-Presbyterian Church. He will speak on “Crisis at Ziklag”, 1 Sam 30 : 1-8. You are welcome to join us.

Pastor Alby Yip (MDiv 2008) our Alumni, will be speaking on 11th Mar. Chapel begins at 12pm every Wednesday. All are welcome.

News Bits

BGST OFFICE & LIBRARY CLOSURE
We will be closed on 6th March (Friday
) for our full-day Work Plan Seminar. The Library will re-open on 7 Mar (Sat) as per normal hours (9am - 6pm).

EVENING CLASS
Old Testament Foundations II (OT102) by Dr Philip Satterthwaite,
(6th Mar) Friday. The class will commence at 7.30pm as usual at Level 2 (Chapel Room).

BGST LIBRARY, from time to time, is pleased to showcase its collection of valuable books and realia (artefacts, replicas, etc.), the most recent one being our exhibition of Egyptian Realia. These can be viewed at the lobby of No.31 Tanjong Pagar Road, where our Library is located. Currently until end March, you may view our Exhibition on “Family Bible and Biblical Art”. We are pleased to acknowledge the gift of a 157 year-old, beautifully leather-bound Family Bible by Mr and Mrs Quek Swee Kwang (London). Also displayed are the following:

  1. The Illustrated Hebrew Bible. 75 Selected Stories in English adapted by Ellen Frankel. New York: Stewart, Tabori & Chang, 1989.

  2. In the Tents of Kedar. Paintings and Drawings by Shemuel Katz, with an introduction by Dr. Chaim Gamzu. Tel Aviv: Graphica Omanim, 1989.

  3. The New Testament, translated by William Tyndale. The text of the Worms edition of 1526 in original spelling. Edited for the Tyndale Society by W. R. Cooper, with a preface by David Daniell. The British Library, 2000.
