BIBLICAL GRADUATE SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY

Issue No. 46

16 - 22 Nov 2009

Chapel Notes

Our chapel speaker, Mr Tim Liu, gave a thought provoking talk on "Making Good Products." There are conditioning influences on the way we live. Products like the mobile phone, do change our lifestyle. We need to be able to think, discern and critique what is happening around us. But equally important, Christians should not just be mere cultural critics but also be making "good products" that can impact their culture. Taking the stance of a layperson, he closed with six pleas to all of us:

  1. build the kingdom, not the church;
  2. be fishers of men, not keepers of aquariums;
  3. build communities, not congregations;
  4. make the Word central, not the pulpit;
  5. take work as worship, and do not make worship become mere work;
  6. be aware of what we are saying, but be more aware of what we are not saying."
