Chapel Message

Wong Choon YewOur Alumnus (MAECF, 2011) Mr Wong Choon Yew, was the chapel speaker on 10 August.

He spoke on “Reliance on God’s Supplies” drawn from a widow’s encounter with Prophet Elijah (I Kings 17: 1, 8-16) and another widow’s experience with Prophet Elisha recorded in Second Kings 4: 1-7.

Choon Yew shared about the lessons we can learn from the two biblical accounts about God, our Provider.

1. In both incidents, God has demonstrated his faithfulness towards those who trusted him for sustenance. He took care of the daily necessities of both widows in times of financial difficulties.

2. Likewise, full-time ministry workers who are in need can commit their anxieties to the One who is able to supply all their needs in His good timing.

3. Evidence of God as our faithful Provider can be supported by the testimonies of those who practice “faith mission” in their lifestyle and ministry. Hudson Taylor and George Muller were cited as great men of faith who trusted the Lord to supply their needs. Choon Yew has also witnessed pastors and evangelists who are serving under financial constraints in East Asia who have remained faithful because they believe that God will provide for them.

On reflection of his personal pilgrimage on the “faith mission” exercise, Choon Yew admits that he has much to learn to acquire this spiritual discipline. This is essential as he embarks on accomplishing his passion and God’s leading to conduct constructive training to pastors, church leaders, lay leaders, ministry workers and seminary students in less developed countries. Without a regular salary to depend on, Choon Yew, his wife and daughter will soon journey on a “faith mission” with the God of the Christian faith who will supply all their personal and ministry needs.
