INTRODUCTION
Missions is the heartbeat of God and He calls every believer to be involved in one way or another. It is my privilege to introduce to you one of the ways every child of God can do missions: Tentmaking. Many have gone through this programme and testified of its effectiveness. I would like to invite you to take a few minutes to read this brochure to sense God’s call.
WHAT IS TENT?
This is a part-time modular course specially designed to equip and prepare professionals for ministry and service in a cross-cultural context. It is organized jointly by Biblical Graduate School of Theology (BGST) and the Discipleship Training Centre (DTC).
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Christian professionals, executives and business associates and people who are seriously considering or preparing for tentmaking service in another culture or country.
WHY ATTEND SUCH A COURSE?
TENT course seeks to provide a basic level of specialized training for tentmakers and their spouses to prepare them for service. This will help them to be better equipped to meet the demands of living and working in a cross-cultural environment. Tentmakers who are sent out without adequate preparation can bring disastrous consequences on themselves, their families and their ministry. Studies have shown that the lack of adequate pre-field equipping is one of the main reasons for the high rate of attrition among missionaries, including tentmakers.
WHAT DOES THE COURSE INCLUDE?
This course covers areas such as: Biblical Basis for Tentmaking Mission Theology of Work Personal Ministry Skills Religions of Asia Understanding Culture & Country Profile Studies Tentmaking and Ethical Issues Coping with Stress
And other training components to help individuals who have clear mission goals.
For details of each of the abovementioned, please refer to course content brochure.
SHORT-TERM TENTMAKING MISSION TRIP
Participants are encouraged to apply what they learn in the course by joining an optional mission trip that will help them see firsthand what tentmakers do on the field. Expenses for this will be covered by the participants.

Participants who complete the entire TENT programme and course assignments will receive the Graduate Certificate in Tentmaking. They will graduate in May the following year.
