As the Alumni Resource Team (ART) Chair for BGST Academic Year 2017/18, I would like first of all to thank the LORD for His provision of a team of dedicated, energetic and passionate servants. We are serving the Lord together as a team and I’m glad that in the past months we have seen spontaneity and enthusiasm as we labour in the Lord together. I must also thank the Principal, Philip Satterthwaite for representing BGST Faculty Board at recent ART meetings.
We also certainly want to thank sister Alvina Ng who has ably and tirelessly led ART as Chair for the past four years and brother Tan Eng Beng who served as a member of ART and has had to step down due to other commitments. We also want to acknowledge brother Chong Ser Choon who was the first ART Chairman.
ART now comprises the following: Andrew Lim (Chair), Marcus Mok (Deputy Chair), Royston Ong (Secretary), Koh Tse Yuen (Treasurer), Raymond Kwok (Social Coordinator), and David Leong (Member). Philip Satterthwaite, Lai Pak Wah and Shoni Duesling represent BGST Faculty and Admin at ART meetings.
My personal life philosophy includes the concept that I’ve been blessed by BGST to bless others. As the Lord led me I want to be used by Him to bless and encourage my brothers and sisters in their theological journeys in BGST and beyond. We certainly appreciate your participation and feedback as we move along. I see myself as a servant still under construction or work in progress and trust that we can spur one another to love and good works ( Heb. 10:24, 25) in our journey.
We are glad and encouraged that our alumni are continuing with more programmes to equip themselves further. We are integrating the alumni and the student body into a network called the Alumni Student Network (ASN). This will enhance communication and community life for all, through events we have planned. It will also provide platforms for Alumni to be mentors to students. Do join ASN to minister and to network with one another, sharing your experiences and stories.
We were glad to see a good response to events co-ordinated by ART like the Braddell Heights Symphony Orchestra at the Esplanade on 17 Dec 2017 (Philip Satterthwaite was playing 2nd bassoon), and the Social Evening at the Singapore Botanical Gardens on 20 Jan 2018 where we had our Alumni Tim, Govin and Betty share.
We are looking forward to meeting you in person at coming events like the Student- Alumni Retreat on 17 March, the 2018 Convocation Dinner on May 26, and our Annual Alumni-Student Lecture by Mr Philip Ng, CEO of Far East Organization on 28 July. Mr Ng will give a short lecture, following which he has agreed to interviewed regarding his experiences of, and insights into, the tensions that arise in being a Christian and a businessman. We trust many will support this last event; feel free to invite your friends and contacts.
I hope to see you soon at one of these ASN events.
