Madascar SceneMadagascar - treeOur speaker for last week’s Chapel was Ranaivoarisoa Mandimby Haja, a full-time Graduate Diploma in Christian Studies student from Madagascar. He introduced us to his country, the fourth largest island in the world and included in the world’s biodiversity ‘hotspots’. This extremely poor and politically unstable country is home to 5% of the world’s animal and plant species, of which about 90% are endemic, such as the Baobab tree (six endemic species out of eight worldwide), the lemurs and the fossa (the only predator). The land of the Moramora (slow slow) Madagascar - animaland the Fihavanana (Kinship, friendship, goodwill),

Madagascar needs our prayers for its political stability and for the spread of the Gospel. According to a 2007 survey, less than 5% of its rural population are born again Christians while animism and ancestors’ worship involve 80% of the total population. Let us remember Madagascar in our prayers.

Our part-time faculty, Mr John Chong Ser Choon will be preaching at Kampong Kapor Methodist Church for their Holy Week Evening Service (6th - 9th April 09, 8 pm nightly). The series is entitled "Following Christ to the Cross ~ Come, Die, Live." All are welcome.

Due to low registration, Dr. Satterthwaite's course "Isaac, Jacob, Joseph: God's Grace in a Dysfunctional Family" will not start on Tuesday April 7th as advertised, but on Tuesday April 14th. The course will consist of seven lectures, with the final lecture on May 26th, and each of the lectures will be slightly longer, in order to fit the material for eight lectures into seven. If you are intending to register for this course please do so quickly, so that we may know whether to proceed with the course or not.

The Chapel speaker for 1 April is Rev Timothy Phua, Pastor of Mt Horeb B-P Church. He will preach on "The Aroma of Christ" based on 2 Corinthians 2:14-17. Chapel begins at 12pm every Wednesday.

Chapel speaker on 8 April will be one of our "early" alumni, Mr Mickey Chiang (MDiv 1997). You are welcome to join us.
