Chapel Notes

Dr Lee spoke on "A Genuine Christian Joy" from Philippians 4:4-7.

  1. Christian joy is not superficial happiness, but one firmly rooted in faith (v.4). Our joy does not depend on our changing circumstances, but on the One who does not change. We need to look up to Him whatever our circumstances.
  2. Let’s be gentle to people around us (v.5). Put others’ needs and interests before ours. It sounds paradoxical, but it is one way of experiencing true joy in our lives.
  1. Instead of being worried about, we need to let God know what is troubling us in prayer (v.6). God is greater than all our troubles! He hears our prayers.
  2. We have a wonderful promise (v.7): we will experience God’s peace when we follow these instructions. We can rejoice always in the Lord and enjoy the peace of God in our hearts when we accept in faith that beyond any particular event there is our sovereign Lord who stands above all events and ultimately has absolute control over them.
