God Goes To The OFfice?
Who REally Owns The Business World?

Dr Bruce WinterLast Saturday evening (15 October 2011), about 100 people gathered at the main sanctuary of Prinsep Street Presbyterian Church for the BGST Public Lecture: “God goes to the Office? Who really owns the business world?”

The lecture was delivered by Rev Dr Bruce Winter, Principal of Queensland Theological College, Australia. Bruce reminded us that the lordship of Christ extends over all of life, both in church on Sunday but also in our workplace on the other 6 days of the week.

Using a biblical-theological approach, and with many personal anecdotes from his own life and from his pastoral ministry, Bruce challenged people in business to think of their call to be: 1) Accountable Custodians of Shareholder Resources; 2) Concerned Employers of Persons; 3) Credible Suppliers of Goods and Services.

This calling undergirds how we face the various ethical challenges in the marketplace. Ultimately, business people, as with all others, find true fulfilment and joy in serving others.

PSPCRev Dr Bruce Winter will be going into more details in his BGST course of the same name, scheduled on next year on Mondays (7.15-10.15 pm) on Jan 30, 31, Feb 1, 2, 3.

More information will be available on our website soon at http://www.bgst.edu.sg/courses-and-events/258-god-goes-to-the-office

An audio mp3 CD of the lecture is available for $5. Please contact the Book Corner at 62276815 or send email to: lib@bgst.edu.sg

Chapel Summary

Rev Rolin San and Rev Aung Win were our chapel speakers on 12 October 2011. They shared about the work of their Christian Reformed Church in Myanmar (CRCM), which was founded in 1985.
The church has several vibrant ministries for the purpose of evangelism and church planting: orphanage ministry; medical ministry through which they educate and help people in the remote areas to protect themselves from diseases; a theological college where they train people who are called into full time ministry; and Community Development Projects through which they have embarked on initiatives such as planting rubber trees, orange groves and arrowroot, as well as highland rice holes plantation. These projects are meant to improve the economics of their community and as sources of financial support for their ministry work.

Both Rev Rolin and Rev Aung Win are presently studying for the degree in Master of Divinity with BGST and aim to return to Myanmar this year.  We pray that they will complete their programmes on time and that the Lord will use them mightily for His work in Myanmar.
