Mr Yam is an Adjunct Faculty and Tutor. He is a Clinical Psychologist in private practice and member of Covenant Evangelical Free Church. After completing a B.A. from Moody Bible Institute, he served as a pastor before obtaining a M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the U.S. He provides clinical assessments to clients with a variety of developmental, emotional and behavioural concerns and gives regular talks/workshops on stress management, team building, emotional intelligence and marriage enrichment. He also provides training in counselling skills, group work and parent education in other organizations.

In the development of the Counsellor as a Person, self-awareness is an important quality of effective helping, while maturity in Christ, a non-negotiable for any Christian, provides the Counsellor an increased self awareness about how God would use the circumstances of his life to draw himself to God, as well as helping others. Relevant to counselors, pastors, and those active in Christian ministry, this module encourages students to examine biblical perspectives of self awareness, and identify areas of spiritual maturity that are of personal concern, as exhorted in epistles like Philippians, and passages such as Hebrews 5:13-6:1 and Ephesians 4:13.

He also holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering from NUS. His research interests include Trinitarian Theology, the Theology of Religions, and Patristic Theology. The course will explore the emergence of the doctrine of the Trinity during one of the most theologically creative and historically exciting periods of the Christian church, namely the patristic era. Through looking at the writings of major figures such as Tertullian, Athanasius, Basil of Caesarea, Gregory of Nazianzus, and, John of Damascus, various trajectories set in motion by the Greek and Latin Fathers that were concerned with an emphasis on the sameness of the Father, Son and Spirit, and others that stressed their diversity, which culminated in the various Councils, will be examined and discussed. Finally, the relevance of the doctrine for contemporary issues, such as the Trinitarian theology of religions and Social Trinitarianism will be analyzed.
