BH211Hebrew Exegesis: Biblical Narratives

BH211 : Hebrew Exegesis: Biblical Narratives (3 Credit)
Academic Year : 2021
About this course
Biblical Hebrew (BH) is the language of the Old Testament (OT). Thus, learning BH gives us greater insight into the OT and the dynamics of ancient Israelite culture and religion. Studying BH hence deepens our understanding of God’s Word, promoting spiritual formation as well as greater efficacy in preaching and teaching.
This course (the third of a four-course series) will build on the basic grammatical building blocks introduced in BH111 and BH112, and introduce students to the key skills required to undertake exegesis of the Hebrew text, with a particular focus on Old Testament narratives. It will also integrate the use of Accordance to aid in Hebrew exegesis. Finally, a learning journey to a local synagogue will be organised to complement the in-class sessions.
